Canine Conditions We Help
Supporting dogs with a wide range of conditions and rehabilitation needs.
Canine physiotherapy can be used alongside veterinary care to support dogs with a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological and post-operative conditions.
At North Western Vet Physio, every dog receives an individual assessment and treatment plan based on their specific condition, stage of rehabilitation and lifestyle.

Conditions we commonly work with include:
Osteoarthritis
Physiotherapy can help support joint mobility, improve muscle strength and improve physical function in dogs living with osteoarthritis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for arthritis, but physiotherapy can help to slow the progression of the disease and maintain quality of life.
Hip and elbow dysplasia
A tailored programme can help improve joint mobility and comfort, support muscle strength and overall physical function. Aiding both surgical and conservative (non-surgical) management of the condition.
Post-operative recovery
Post-operative rehabilitation can help dogs return to normal activity, gradually rebuilding strength and movement following orthopaedic or soft-tissue surgery.
Muscle and tendon injuries
Controlled rehabilitation can support a gradual and controlled return to normal activity following soft-tissue injury.
Neurological conditions
Physiotherapy can aid maintaining muscle condition, movement and function in dogs affected by neurological disorders.
Patella luxation
Individual strengthening and exercise programmes can aid both surgical and conservative management of patella luxation. Reducing inflammation and strengthening musculature to support movement.
Spinal conditions
Physiotherapy for both surgical (e.g. IVDD) and non-surgical (e.g. ANNPE) spinal conditions, can reduce muscle atrophy and maintain joint mobility, provide valuable muscle strengthening and gait retraining.
Performance and working dogs
Regular physiotherapy can support dogs undertaking demanding physical activity, helping to maintain mobility, strength and physical condition.
Age-related mobility changes
Older dogs can benefit from physiotherapy designed around maintaining movement, strength and comfort as their needs change.

Not sure if physiotherapy is suitable?
If your dog has been diagnosed with a condition that isn't listed above, please get in touch.
We are happy to discuss your dog's individual circumstances and work with your veterinary surgeon, where appropriate to establish whether physiotherapy could form part of their care.
